Congratulations to year 9-10 team for winning the Allan Brewster Junior Basketball Tournament

Seven young basketball players aged 9-10 years, who'd never played together, joined forces to represent Sport Gulf Harbour at the Allan Brewster Junior Basketball Tournament in Papatoetoe on September 3rd.

Four games were scheduled and were played with relaxed rules.  The first game had our players cautiously getting the feel of the court and each other, the skill levels and communication.  Despite this they held possession during the last half of the game but in missing baskets, lost by one basket.  The next two games saw our guys gel with plenty of intercepts, a fast pace and great passing with a player under the basket to take the shot, gaining two wins.

The final game was played against the first team and a request for full rules from our coach was accepted. A very even first half made for an exciting game full of anticipation.  With a rev up at the last quarter the team decided to win and put everything into it to come out with a 23-15 score.

Our thanks to Mark Mandeno, coach Andrew and Manager Nikki Davidson for pulling this team together.
